Analgesia

Analgesia is that group of drugs that takes away pain. Sadly they don't work for heartache, only the love of another will do take that pain away. There are some specific things in palliative analgesia.

You will be aware of most of these; especially paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen; less well known are diclofenac and

Opioid

Very well known as a group of drugs; open to abuse, but very good at taking pain away. Most commonly used are:

• morphine
• fentanyl
