Large intestine

Welcome to the Poo Factory

The large intestine is the end of the digestive tract. In it, liquid chyme has the water removed, forming the semi-solid faeces, which are passed out of the body at the anus.

The large intestine consists of

the caecum (where the appendix also attaches)
the ascending, transverse and descending colon
and the rectum and anus
